Acts 4:12 ESV

April Devotional – Acts 4:12 ESV

And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under
heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”

Devotional Thought

These words, spoken by Peter before the Sanhedrin, represent the bold core of the Christian faith. In a world that often seeks many paths to peace or fulfillment, Peter narrows the focus to one name: Jesus Christ.

  • “No One Else”: This is a statement of exclusivity that is actually born out of great love. God didn’t leave salvation to chance or human effort; He provided a definitive rescue plan through His Son.
  • “Given Among Men”: Salvation isn’t something we had to climb up to heaven to find. God gave it to us. It is a gift, accessible to all, regardless of background or past mistakes.
  • “Must Be Saved”: This highlights our universal need. We cannot save ourselves from sin or its consequences. Recognizing the power of Jesus’ name is the first step toward the transformation and peace we all seek.

When we call on the name of Jesus, we aren’t just reciting a title; we are appealing to the authority of the One who conquered death.

Reflection Questions

  • Is there anything else I am subtly trusting in for my “salvation” or security (money, reputation, self-reliance)?
  • How does the certainty of having “no other name” bring me peace today?
  • Who in my life needs to hear that there is a Name that offers true hope?

Prayer

Lord, I thank You that You did not leave us to find our own way. Thank You for the gift of salvation found only in Jesus. Help me to rest in the power of His name and to share that hope with others with both boldness and humility. Amen.

May this devotional inspire you to deepen your walk with Christ and to answer His call with a willing heart.
