February Devotional
Psalm 73:26 ESV
Scripture
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” —Psalm 76:26 (ESV)
Devotional Reflection
This verse is breathtakingly honest. The psalmist doesn’t pretend to be strong. He admits what we often try to hide: bodies get tired, hearts get discouraged, faith can feel thin. “My flesh and my heart may fail.” That’s not a hypothetical—it’s a lived reality.
But the turning point comes fast and sure: “But God…”
Those two words change everything.
God is not described here as a temporary boost or a backup plan. He is the strength of the heart—the inner resilience we don’t have on our own. When emotions are unstable, when circumstances drain us, when prayers feel weak, God supplies what we lack from the inside out.
Then comes the quiet miracle of the last phrase: “my portion forever.”
A portion is what sustains you, what you live on, what you’re allotted. The psalmist isn’t saying God gives him a portion—God Himself is the portion. Not success. Not answers. Not relief. God.
And not just for now. Forever.
Takeaway
When you feel depleted—physically, emotionally, spiritually—this verse invites you to stop striving for strength you don’t have and rest in the God who is strength. You may feel empty, but you are not abandoned. You may feel weak, but you are not without supply.
Prayer
Lord, when my heart feels worn and my strength is gone, remind me that You are enough. Be the strength I don’t have and the portion I need today—and forever. Amen.
May this devotional inspire you to deepen your walk with Christ and to answer His call with a willing heart.
