Shine – Isaiah 9:2 ESV

The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light;
those who dwelt in a land of deep darkness, on them has light shone.
Isaiah 9:2 ESV

This verse is a prophecy from Isaiah about the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. It describes how the people who were living in sin and darkness would be brought to salvation and light by Jesus.

The darkness in this verse can represent many things, such as sin, ignorance, despair, and hopelessness. Jesus came to bring light to all these things. He came to forgive our sins, to teach us the truth, to give us hope, and to show us the way to eternal life.

If you are living in darkness, I encourage you to turn to Jesus. He is the light of the world, and he can bring you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Here are some specific ways that Jesus brings light into our lives:

  • He forgives our sins. When we confess our sins to Jesus, he forgives us and cleanses us from all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9). This brings us peace and hope.
  • He teaches us the truth. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6). He teaches us about God’s love, his plan for our lives, and how to live a life that pleases him.
  • He gives us hope. Jesus came to give us hope for the future. He promised that he would return one day to defeat sin and death and to establish his kingdom on earth (Revelation 21:1-4).
  • He shows us the way to eternal life. Jesus is the only way to eternal life (John 14:6). He died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins, and he rose from the dead to give us victory over death.

If you are living in darkness, I encourage you to turn to Jesus. He is the light of the world, and he can bring you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Here is a prayer you can pray:

Dear Jesus,

I come to you in darkness. I confess my sins to you and ask for your forgiveness. I believe that you died on the cross to pay the penalty for my sins, and I believe that you rose from the dead. I want to turn from my sins and follow you.

Please come into my life and be my Lord and Savior. I want to live in your light and follow your ways.

In Jesus’ name, amen.

If you prayed this prayer, I encourage you to tell someone about your decision to follow Jesus. You can also find a Bible-believing church near you and start learning more about Jesus and his love for you.
